Technical Product Manager / Funko
Oct 2016 - Current

I own 2 of the largest pieces of Funko’s eComm platform – Funko Subscription platform & Funko Profile Platform, as well as the Funko mobile app. The subscription platform accounts for 80% of Funko’s eComm revenue and consists of 4 subscription product lines serving around 200k subscribers worldwide. The Profile Platform is used by all Funko apps across the entire company. The mobile app is the ultimate Funko mobile experience for all customers. Major accomplishments include:

  • Envision product roadmap from non-existent to maturity including:
    • Truly understand the business and the problem it faces; design the solution and clearly communicate proposal to leadership.
    • Prioritize goals into a roadmap of feature releases based on company strategy.
    • Working with technical leads to ensure the right technology and architecture is being implemented.
    • Project manage the entire delivery process to ensure visibility, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Transformed Funko's subscription system from a semi-manual, pseudo system into a world class subscription engine on par with other great sites such as Barkbox and Birthbox, etc.
  • Lead migration of 200k customer profile and millions of order data to the new platform.
  • Built offshore vendor team and managed transition to offshore model saving 50% of the cost.
  • Lead development of Funko Profile platform serving all Funko apps with a robust set of APIs, flexible data schema and set of feature rich plugins.
  • Delivering a mobile app with rich personalized mobile features to help customers further engage in the Funko universe.

Senior Program Manager / Microsoft

Own a set of content management tools that powers some of the world’s most visited portals including www.microsoft.com, www.msn.com and www.office.com with over 500M page views per month. Provide leadership in defining content strategy and building consensus in the delivering the most valuable features for hundreds of partners who publishes thousands of pages a month. Work with engineering in designing and delivering a quality product in a timely manner.

  • Successfully delivered features that enabled Office 2016 world-wide launch which required thousands of pages to be simultaneously published and available for millions of viewers around the world in a short time span of several hours.
  • Lead a project to develop an in-house image asset management system which stored and managed 260+ million images from a dozen different providers; removed dependency of 3rd party vendor and saved company close to $1M per year.

Senior Program Manager / Microsoft
Nov 2012 - Feb 2015

Own the Microsoft URL management tool and feed syndication tool, as well as managing the migration and decommissioning to some legacy portals such as windows.microsoft.com and www.windowsphone.com.

  • Lead the development of the Microsoft URL tool (aka.ms) from a POC project to be widely adopted in the entire company with ~10k users and 1+ million URLs. It was so successful in fact that LT considered commercialize it at one point
  • Lead the effort in decommissioning and migrating Windows Online and Windows Phone portal to new CMS tools with thousands of pages migrated.

Technical Program Manager / Microsoft (Contract)
Aug 2011 - Nov 2012

Lead an offshore team to develop a publishing platform for Microsoft NewsCenter, and drive the adoption of the platform to 90+ Microsoft subsidiaries. Successfully partnership with various Microsoft teams including MSIT, CMG and LCA :

  • Managed ~$500k budget to build the offshore team from ground up; hiring PMs and Devs
  • Successfully delivered project on time on budget; Microsoft decided to extend the platform to include all blogging sites due to the project success.

Owning the development of Microsoft’s Global Migration system (a HR system which tracks all employees’ immigration status as well as international travel needs):
